Ms. Achilles
Hello scholars! As you know my name is Ms. Achilles, and I am so excited to get to know all of you as this year takes off. I am a Texas native, born and raised in San Antonio, Texas.I moved to Austin to attend St. Edward's University. It was there I received my Bachelors of Arts degree. I have certifications in Elementary Education as well English as a Second Language. Since moving, I have made South Austin my home. My dog, Cash, and I are happy to be here in Austin where we love to take hikes in local Texas parks, and play in the lake on the weekends. Some of my other passions include reading novels and old stories about war, painting, and going to the movies!
Teaching has been a dream of mine since I was a child. To finally have the oportunity to work in a classroom with my very own students, I'm on top of the world! Coming into my third year teaching, I have very exciting ambitions to accomplish great things with my new group of scholars this year. I look forward to working with each of your scholars to get geared up and ready to go to middle school next year! To do this we will work on skills in building independence and responsibility as well as ensuring we foster and teach healthy social emotional skills within each of our scholars. In addition, I look forward to working with each of my new students to set and acheive an aboundance of new goals. In order to do this we will work together in small groups wherin students will work on building these individualized skills. As an avid reader, and a reading teacher, I believe very strongly in the power of students learning through reading. Based on what has been shown through extensive research, in our classroom this year we will be learning and practicing many of our skills through daily independent reading. All of the skills and preparation we will do this year will be through great excitement and my hope is to foster a great love of learning through the different activities this year! For the last two years I have increasingly built upon my love and passion for this profession. Each year I have had an exceptional time here at Baldwin, and I know this year will be even better!
I always have an open door, and highly encourage open lines of communication with my families. I rely heavily on your great expertise, and knowledge of your children, in order to form successful relationships with your scholar. I also always love to hear any feedback or ways I can support your scholar. Contact through email is not only the most efficient way to reach me, but is a great way for me to refer back on conversations and needs I can provide throughout the school year. If at anytime there are concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to email me for a swift response. I also check my voicemail every day, but due to frequent meetings during the day, or due to teaching, I may not be able to return calls immediately. Whichever mode of contact, there will be no more than a 24 hour response period.
I very much look forward to working with you and your scholar this year!
Best,
Ms. Achilles

I am thrilled to be gearing up for another fabulous year at Baldwin Elementary! Fifth grade is, in my opinion, the most memorable year in elementary school. We have a great deal of fun and a great deal of practicing independence in 5th grade. My goal is to completely prepare our fifth graders for middle school academically, organizationally, socially, and emotionally. This is a big year, and my hope is the best year so far!
I have been teaching now for 17 years in a variety of roles and grade levels. Again, fifth grade is my favorite! I have been at Baldwin since we opened seven years ago. I have taught first through fifth grades in Ohio, Arizona, and Texas. My certifications are Elementary Education, English as a Second Language, and Special Education. I have three children of my own. Their ages are 10, 9, and 3. My older two also attend Baldwin. I love this community and have been a part of it for eight years now!
On the back of this page, you will see information regarding flexible seating in my classroom along with specific homework routines. I am a flexible teacher and want to know if there are any issues with homework. At the same time, I want your child to continue to grow and practice good habits that will ensure independence and success in middle school.
Please contact me with any questions, concerns, and celebrations. I am usually quick with email and that will get you the most prompt response. I check voicemails daily as well, but cannot always return a phone call immediately due to class and/or meetings.
I am so glad to be partnering with you this year!
